I live in Sweden. I'm 40-years-old and an art student/ fashion illustrator. As long as I could remember I have been holding a pen in my right hand. Taught by my father and grandfather my passion for art grew and it didn't take long before me to develop a personal style. My pale aquarelle paintings reflect the cool, barren landscape of the northern parts of Sweden I derive from.
Background
I was born in the northern parts of Sweden, in a tiny little village in the middle of the scandic mountains. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember and when I became older, my drawings became part of my identity, almost like a diary but sY never considered working as an illustrator.
I moved away from home when I was sixteen to study music in another city and during these 3 years, I didn’t paint at all as I was focused on school and music which took up all of my time. After school I suddenly had a lot of free time, so I took up painting again and started a blog where I could show my friends what I was doing. When more and more people started to discover my blog, I began receiving a lot of good feedback which allowed me to grow as an artist. I really appreciate my blog since it has given me opportunities I never ever would have had otherwise.
Style & Technique
I have a simplistic, life-like style and I use aquarelle and ink to create this effect. I use ink for all of the contours and for darker parts and hair and the rest is aquarelle. Many of my drawings do not feature any colour and the skin tone is achieved through shading. Sometimes I choose to use colour to create a feature on my drawing for example on the lips, fingernails or a single garment. The facial expressions on the majority of my drawings are blank and the poses are always very unique. I am also quite famous for using props in my drawings such as a cigarette, coffee cup, pair of glasses and a cat. I am often told my drawings are very striking, yet simply beautiful with the main focus always on the face. Agents and Artists (2011) believe that "her [my] pale paintings reflect the the cool, barren landscape of the northern parts of Sweden she derives from".
